Avete visto le luci? (Have you seen the lights?)

Last night, my neighbour knocked loudly on my door, shouting, ‘Guys, have you seen the lights?’

They weren't UFOs, they were northern lights.

Yesterday I was very worried and sad, I thought a lot about the future that awaits the world we live in. The society around me seems increasingly full of hatred for the most fragile and disadvantaged, while the pressure is mounting for all of us.

Then my neighbour called me and soon after we were all outside looking at something we had never seen before in our sky. I realised that, in part, a weight was lifting from me, and I felt better. We need to share moments of closeness in which we feel part of the human community, to marvel at something immense and totally unexpected.

Nature has this power. And Art has it too.
